Dear Diane,

It is a pleasure for me to be able to write this endorsement of your book, Brighton, One Star's Journey to Shine. I have read the book from cover to cover and have found it to be refreshing, entertaining, and inspirational. It is a book that I would highly recommend for children, parents, and teachers alike. Its message that each of us is unique, with gifts and talents specifically entrusted to us, is clearly and effectively presented.

The theme of Brighton is a message that is very appropriate for today, at a time when “greatness” is erroneously equated with power, popularity, and wealth, it is difficult, if not impossible for a child-or adult, for that matter-to comprehend the reality that true greatness is something that each of us can attain by simply being the person that we have been created to be.

I believe that Brighton, One Star's Journey to Shine will appeal to children of all ages. His experience is one with which all young people should be able to relate, regardless of their culture, faith tradition, race, or financial circumstances. For those children who may not be able to read, the book will be appealing because of its bright, colorful, and charming illustrations. In addition, I found it very effective to have the main points of the story repeated, and then set in a contrasting color of ink.

Please allow me to congratulate you, Diane, on a wonderful achievement. Brighton, One Star's Journey to Shine has what is necessary to become a very significant work in children's literature. In addition, I believe it has the potential to make a very positive, and lasting, impact on the self-esteem of our young children today.

With every best wish and kind regard, I remain,

Sincerely yours, Patrick J. McGrath Bishop of San Jose
